Introduction:
The Japanese word “Kai” translates to ‘Good’ and “Zen” to ‘change’ in English and together they make a meaning ‘Good Change’ or ‘Change for Better’. Kaizen is a Japanese philosophy of continuous improvement at workplace. Kaizen was introduced by Toyota as a motto for the manufacturing industry but gradually, it became an integral part of multiple other industries. It has proven to deliver significant results in personal lives too.
Purpose:
Implementation of Kaizen in Industrial Operations will facilitate understanding about Kaizen and its implications in daily operations increasing accuracy, productivity, improving quality, reducing cost and improving safety through gradual and continuous improvement. This experiential workshop is designed with the intent to create a good environment through Lean Management and Waste Reduction based on the philosophy of “Muda”, “Muri”, and “Mura”.
Scope:
In this Workshop, together we shall be working on how to improve processes via lean tools like Kaizen and 5S. Kaizen and 5S, they go hand-in-hand. Together, we will learn &adopt the philosophy, principles and guidelines of Kaizen. 5S is a Japanese philosophy that defines management of space and task flow with the intent to improve efficiency by identifying and eliminating waste, improving activity flow and reducing processes inefficiencies. Five Steps of 5S methodology is also an approach for Kaizen.

Mr. Shahane holds an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from University of Florida, USA. Mr. Shahane has more than 14 years of professional experience in the field of Operations & Supply Chain and worked with organizations namely Ashima Limited, Walt Disney World, David Sutherland Inc. & Perennials Inc. Since last 8 years, he is working with “KHS Machinery Pvt. Ltd.” in Operations, focusing on inventory management & processes and implementing lean tools like Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Visual management and Kanban.
