Basic Japanese Course for Beginners (N5 Level)

This Course introduces Japanese phrases and promotes a basic level for beginners. The Learner will learn N5 Level Japanese. This Course is conducted in English and Japanese and designed for those who have no or little knowledge of Japanese.


  • To enable students to understand the concept and basics of Japanese Language.
  • To enable Students to acquire the basic understanding of the Japanese language structures and sentence patterns
  • To enable students to develop the ability to communicate the basics in the Japanese language
  • To teach pronunciation and intonation of Japanese sounds and to enable students to comprehend and speak simple sentences in Japanese.


UNIT 1 Introduction to Japanese Language (12 Hrs.)
Daily greetings; Basic Self Introduction; Classroom vocabulary; Introduction to Japanese Language & its concepts, Introduction to Kana; Japanese Pronunciations and ordinal numbers

UNIT 2 Classroom Vocabulary and Introduction to Japanese Grammar (12 Hrs.)
Vocabulary and basic sentences referring to things, demonstrative nouns; making sentences related to persons profession, origin etc.

UNIT 3 Japanese Calendar and Clock (12 Hrs.)
Telling time and introduction to Japanese Calendar including dates, months, etc. and Japanese Seasons and related Japanese Particles

UNIT 4 Introduction to Japanese Adjectives and Vocabulary II (12 Hrs.)
Vocabulary connected to office work; Introduction of adjectives and tenses of adjectives; Usage of adjectives and tenses continued; Usage of adjectives continued, reference to non living things

UNIT 5 Introduction to Polite Form of Japanese Verbs and Particles (12 Hrs.)
Sentences referring to living things.; Usage of verbs and tenses; Vocabulary connected to counting things (counters); Sharpening the reading, speaking and listening skills from whatever being covered in the course

On completion of the Course, Learner will be able to:
CO1 – Identify Japanese Alphabets i.e. Kana, its pronunciations and related reading skills
CO2 – Identify Basic Japanese Sentences & its usage
CO3 – Identify Basic Japanese Calendar and its usage
CO4 – Solve the basic Japanese Grammar Daily Verbs, Adjectives and Particles
CO5 – Get use to Basic Japanese Language, its culture, gesture and its vocabulary
CO6 – Construct Basic Self Introduction with greetings in Japanese
